Terrorist activity is definitely on the rise in Africa over the past three months. Here are the major events.
- In July, al-Qaeda of the Islamic Maghreb detonated suicide bombs in outside government offices in to Algerian towns killing officials and civilians.
- In early September, Nigeria’s, terrorist, thorn in the flesh, Boko Haram, who seems able to strike at will, took credit for the suicide bombing of the United Nation’s Headquarters in the capital Abuja.
- Pirates have begun to attack skips off the coast of Ghana, Benin, and Togo.
- October 4th, al-Qaeda linked, al-Shabab claimed responsibility for a bombing that left 77 dead and 150 wounded in the Somalian capital, Mogadishu.
All of these would echo the recent message from al-Shabab spokesman, Ali Mohamud Rage, who said, “we warn you: keep away from government buildings and the bases of their soldiers, more serious blasts are coming.” No body is doubting his word.
